DeWitt County Courthouse of 1896 and Annex Details
Location: Cuero, TX
Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services for Phase I of the project involved a master plan for submission to the Texas Historical Commission (THC). During this process it was determined that an Annex for county offices to provide swing space and additional space for the County was required to meet THC requirements for construction grant funding. After the County received the design grant, Phase II, the design, construction administration, and commissioning services for both the Courthouse and the Annex was completed.
The Annex project was part of an adaptive re-use of a 1928 Ford dealership caddy-corner to the Courthouse in Cuero’s Historic District. Both projects required complete interior and exterior restorations with all new MEP systems.
The restoration of the Courthouse received an Honor Award in 2010 from Preservation Texas, Inc.
